Girls Trip: Beach and Disney Land

At the end of June Allyson, my mom, and I went on a girls trip to California. Our first day there we went to the beach. I think it's safe to say that this day was probably everyone's favorite of the whole trip. It was so fun and relaxing! It was Allyson's first time playing at the beach EVER. I think it more than met her expectations. She loved waiting for the waves to come and then running as fast as she could away from them. She also loved collecting sea shells, and being buried in the warm sand. She loved it so much that when I told her we were going to Disney Land the next day, she asked if we could go to the beach another day and THEN do Disney Land. Now that's sayin' something!

We did 2 days at Disney Land and 1 day at California Adventure, on the days that followed. Cars Land had just opened so we got to see it for the first time while we were there. I think we were all a little worn out and tired by the last day ... and did I mention HOT?! It was definitely a little toasty while visiting there at the end of June. We packed in lots of rides over those three days!

I didn't separate out California Adventure from the Disney Land pics. I'm sure you can tell which is which ;). Too many pictures, and it would take too long to do it, sorry!

On the plane on the way out there.

When we got to the hotel, there was a beautiful flower arrangement waiting for us in our room. It was from David to all of us. So sweet!

Hollywood Tower of Terror. Allyson's face in this picture is priceless! She might look terrified, but this ride is her absolute FAVORITE! She rode it a couple more times again after this and she wanted to go more, but we finally had to say let's move on.

The cozy cones had the BEST treat EVER!! Churros with chocolate dipping sauce ... my mouth is watering. Doesn't sound terribly special, but ooooohhhh it is!!

Radiator Springs Racers. The main attraction ride in Cars Land. Awesome ride, but a little too short, in my opinion.

All of us dying of heat and boredom waiting in line for the Radiator Springs Racers. It kept breaking down, so it made for a loooong wait. I don't remember exactly how long we waited in line, but it was at least several hours. Was it worth it? Probably not, but it was pretty awesome being able to say we rode it on opening day!

When Allyson first walked up to Mickey Mouse, she grabbed his nose and squeezed it. His body guards weren't too happy about that. She couldn't possibly be the first 6 year old to assault a Disney character, right?? Grandma and I couldn't help but laugh ... we held off on the laughing til after we left the room, though.

Allyson was sooo excited to meet Lightning Mcqueen! He's a real car that drives around and he talks too. We had to pry her away from him, so the other kids in line could have a turn.

Arrrgg!!!

Katelyn was having a blast at home with Daddy. They got a babysitter for Kyler and went to go see Brave in the theater. Daddy also potty trained her while we were gone ... AWESOME!!

David's 30th Birthday

We had a blast celebrating the death of David's youth! The big 3-0 ... I wanted to make sure we did activities that would make him feel like a young lad still. haha

We started off the day with hiking up to the Timp Caves. David had never done the cave tour before, so we went through and did that too.

After the hike, we went and ate at Flour Girls and Dough Boys for lunch. It was our first time there. What a cute little place! I don't think we got any pictures there ... if we did, I don't know where they're at.

Later on that night we went out to Guns n' Ammo in Orem and shot some guns. It was awesome!! David got to shoot a sniper rifle too ... and keep the casing from the bullet that came from it. So. Cool. That was David's favorite one he shot that night. My favorite was the .22 rifle. It was nice and light weight and it didn't have any kick back to it, so I could shoot right on the target much easier. I was the crazy lady who showed up wearing flip flops ... I had never shot a gun before, so I didn't bother to think about the HOT shell casings that would land on my toes, haha. It only happened a few times, so not too bad. All the employees thought I was the coolest wife in the world for taking my husband shooting for his birthday ... David thought I was the coolest wife ever, too. Success!!

I know we went out to dinner that night too, but I don't remember where - sorry it's been a while.

I got him a new guitar for his birthday present. He wanted to have a second one, so he could keep them both in different tunings for different songs.

Turning 30 ain't so bad after all. :)
