David's 30th Birthday

We had a blast celebrating the death of David's youth! The big 3-0 ... I wanted to make sure we did activities that would make him feel like a young lad still. haha

We started off the day with hiking up to the Timp Caves. David had never done the cave tour before, so we went through and did that too.

After the hike, we went and ate at Flour Girls and Dough Boys for lunch. It was our first time there. What a cute little place! I don't think we got any pictures there ... if we did, I don't know where they're at.

Later on that night we went out to Guns n' Ammo in Orem and shot some guns. It was awesome!! David got to shoot a sniper rifle too ... and keep the casing from the bullet that came from it. So. Cool. That was David's favorite one he shot that night. My favorite was the .22 rifle. It was nice and light weight and it didn't have any kick back to it, so I could shoot right on the target much easier. I was the crazy lady who showed up wearing flip flops ... I had never shot a gun before, so I didn't bother to think about the HOT shell casings that would land on my toes, haha. It only happened a few times, so not too bad. All the employees thought I was the coolest wife in the world for taking my husband shooting for his birthday ... David thought I was the coolest wife ever, too. Success!!

I know we went out to dinner that night too, but I don't remember where - sorry it's been a while.

I got him a new guitar for his birthday present. He wanted to have a second one, so he could keep them both in different tunings for different songs.

Turning 30 ain't so bad after all. :)

Spring Family Pictures

I've taken pictures of just the kids on several different occasions, but these were our first pictures of our whole family since before Katelyn could even walk. I figured we were about due for some new ones. These were taken back in April. I love the picture of David and I together and the one of Katelyn giggling - it fits her personality perfectly. Pictures by Angela Liddle.

Summer Fun

I'm going to lump what would normally be several different posts into one. Honestly, I can't remember enough worth writing more than a sentence or two for each event, so we'll just call these pictures random summer fun. Definitely a good reason right there of why I should never get behind on the blog again!! I can't remember things!

BUT, to sum things up - we had an AWESOME summer. We were so burnt out from building the house, that we pretty much played as much as possible. It was great! We didn't take pictures of EVERYTHING we did, but we did take pictures of some of the fun at least. We went to the splash parks a bunch, lots of different parks, library trips, made some new friends, Trafalga, Seven Peaks (once), and lots of other random summer fun stuff ... and we slowly unpacked boxes at night after the kids went to bed. While playing was fun, by the end of the summer we (by "we", I mean "I")were ready to get back to a schedule and get some things done and organized around the house. Still lots to do!! But we'll get there - we've got about 60 years or so to do it all, so no rush. At least the boxes are all unpacked! ;)

This was at the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. I believe the Dutch festival was going on there, if I remember right. I remember we had fresh made strupewaffles (spelling?) when we were there, so I think that's Dutch, right? Anyway, they tasted amazing!! The kids only ever want to visit the secret garden and the waterfalls when we go to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. Can't blame them, those are my favorite spots as well.

One of our many Trafalga trips. Gotta love that pass of all passes! Katelyn, and David were there too, we just stink at pulling out the camera sometimes. Sorry kids!! Kyler rode his first ride ever at trafalga. He looked like this the entire time. No crying, no smiling, no nothing. I felt bad for him, but it was pretty funny at the same time. We couldn't help but laugh ... I know, we're horrible parents.

We went to Gemma's birthday party (their cousin) and the Orem carnival afterwards. Allyson spent the night at Grandma June's house and had fun watching movies with her cousins Jolie and Gemma and swimming in the backyard kiddie pool the next morning.

Father's and son's camp out with Grandpa Kasperson's ward. They went golfing before heading up hobble creek to camp. I wasn't there, but it looks like they all had fun. Not sure where all the pics of the actual camp out are ...

For Father's Day for Grandpa David (with the help of David (my husband, not grandpa David), my mom, and Sarah to try and get kids smiling at the camera), I took a picture of all the grandkids on my side of the family to give to him. You'd think with 3 people helping to get smiles and kids staying where you want them to it would be a breeze - ummm, no. Not a breeze, but we got a super cute picture of them all smiling at the camera, anyway! ... well, that is after swapping a couple of heads from a couple of different pictures. Hey, it works. :)

(left to right): Gemma (my step sister's daughter), Allyson, Kyler, Katelyn, Jolie (my sister's daughter).

Katelyn was super upset when Allyson got to have a sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa June's and she didn't. So, she got to go have a sleep over on a different night. Looks like fun!

More posts coming soon about all of our adventures. I'm now caught up through mid June. Wahoo!!
